Installing the Add-on

  1. Log in as a user with the JIRA administrators global permission
  2. Open the JIRA Administration (gear icon) and choose "Apps"
  3. Click "Find new apps" in the side navigation
  4. Type "Epic Sum Up" in the search bar (The correct version appears in the search results)
  5. Click "Try free" to begin the trial or "Buy now" to purchase a license for Epic Sum Up (it is possible to log into the Atlassian Marketplace via MyAtlassian account)
  6. Enter your data and click "Generate license"
  7. Click "Apply license"

You have already taken the first step to increase your performance. Now you should apply your first settings and set up the add-on.

Here are a few tips for a successful setup of Epic Sum Up:



 Sum up values on specific issuetypes

Enter the Global Settings of Epic Sum Up, by moving to your Add-ons Administration and choosing the Epic Sum Up Configuration. In the Global Settings you can define the issuetypes that display a Summary Panel.

 Make only the right people see the data

To do so, enter the Global Settings of Epic Sum Up, by moving to your Add-ons Administration and choosing the Epic Sum Up Configuration. There you can also define which user groups are allowed to see and access the Summary Panel or the Timesheet.

 Check the progress for issues

Open the issue you want to check the progress of and take a look at the Summary Panel. The Summary Panel displays the summed up amount of values for the issue itself and every underlying issues. If the progress bars do not provide enough information, open the Detail View by clicking on one of the progress bars.

Global Settings

To adjust the global settings you have to be a Jira administrator

  1. Log in as a user with global Jira administration permissions
  2. Open the Jira Administration (gear icon) and choose "Add-ons"
  3. Click on "Epic Sum Up" and click on "Configure"
  4. The display of various fields (custom fields, attachments...), the Summary Panel settings and the general settings, can be adjusted here 

These global settings are used as a standard / default template.

Project Settings

To adjust the project settings you have to be at least a project administrator (only available for Epic Sum Up Server / Data Center)

  1. Log in as a user with at least project administration permissions
  2. Open the project adminstration (gear icon) and choose "Epic Sum Up"
  3. Click on "Customize for Project"
  4. The display of various fields (custom fields, attachments...) and the Summary Panel settings can be adjusted here

These settings only apply for the project and are used as a standard / default template.

Issue Settings

To adjust the issue settings you have to be at least a project administrator

  1. Log in as a user with at least project administration permissions
  2. Open the specific issue
  3. Click on the Cog by the Summary Panel and click on "Customize for Issue"
  4. The display of various fields (custom fields, attachments...) and the Summary Panel settings can be adjusted here (analogous to the project settings)

These settings only apply for this issue.


Permissions


To access and adjust the project settings for Epic Sum Up, you need the "Administer Project" right for the project.

Define which user groups have the permission to see and use Epic Sum Up.


ESU 3.2 AND ABOVE

Due to limitations in Jira the Summary Panel display cannot be restricted by roles anymore.

Users do not need the "Work on issue" permission anymore!
Please check your permissions after this update! To avoid insight of the Summary Panel to unauthorized users or customers!

Define user groups and roles in the Global Settings to grant only certain users the view of Epic Sum Up.

BELOW ESU 2.9ESU LIGHT

A user can access the Epic Sum Up functions, if he has the "Work on Issue" permission.

Epic Sum Up is visible to anyone who has the permission to view worklogs.
